“You’ll go, Lisian?” Adelaide blinked her eyes.
For some reason, he never liked to leave the dungeon. So far, the only time he had traveled outside the dungeon was to follow Adelaide or to get essential ingredients. He was a house-loving demon. She couldn’t believe that he’d be away from Greenville for a while. The other demons also could not hide their surprise.
“Why Lisian? Of course, Lisian is also fast, but the firebird is very fast. Besides, he’ll just have to ride the warp anyway…”
“Because in case of an emergency, I could use my power if I need to come back immediately.”
“You have another power?” Adelaide was terrified. Devils and their powers are really no joke.
Caladium glared at Lisianthus with his eyes wide open, as if his Phoenix form had been insulted.
‘I can’t believe you just belittled my ability. Let’s see what a great power it is!’ Was what his eyes seemed to be saying.
“Yes. It is an S-Class warp ability that can travel long distances.”
Then Caladium averted his gaze. Long-distance warp was the best of all the movement-related abilities. The range of movement was different depending on the grade, but if it was an S-Class, it was more powerful than those installed at warp stops. In other words, it was an almost cheat-level power.
“Using my powers, I can come back from Belial to Greenville in minutes. It’s a power that can only be used once or twice in a hundred years, but it’s good that I haven’t used it and saved it.”
“I didn’t really have anything to use it for except when I went grocery shopping.” Lisianthus murmured and continued.
“In the case of the warp stop, there are days when it is not open, and it also takes time to turn into a firebird and return, so I think it would be better for me to go in case of an emergency.”
“This is the best way to ensure the Master’s safety and to protect your friends.”
He spoke with a firm attitude. His eyes that looked at Adelaide seemed to convey that he would not back down.
Greenville without Lisianthus. She felt bad for Caladium, because compared to his absence she felt empty now. However he already went this far to do her a favor, and he couldn’t be more stubborn. Adelaide slowly nodded her head.
“Okay. Let’s do that.”
“Yes. I’m just sorry that I couldn’t be with Master for a while. If I had been as strong as I was before, I wouldn’t have had this problem.”
“No, there’s nothing Lisian has to apologize for!”
Adelaide urgently waved her hands. He was stronger than he was now? In her eyes, Lisianthus already looked like a Demon King.
“But do you know where your friend is? There is nothing written in the letter.”
The devil who didn’t exercise basic etiquette to not read her letters asked. Adelaide glared at him once, then opened her mouth.
“No, it’s there. Here.”
Caladium stared intently at the sentence Adelaide pointed to with her index finger and read it aloud.
“The only rest I have these days is when I buy milk chocolate from a nearby store…. ? What is this?”
“Pippa doesn’t like chocolate. I do. There was a shop that had milk chocolate that was particularly delicious, but it was too far for me to go alone, so Pippa always took me there. It will be near there.”
‘She seemed to have chosen her words because she thought someone else might read the letter. If you’re going to worry about that, then you shouldn’t curse the Demon King.’ Adelaide stuck her tongue out at Penelope’s unknown audacity as she explained the location of the store to Lisianthus.
Having confirmed some more information about Penelope, Lisianthus was ready to leave. With his long hair neatly tied in a ponytail, thin-rimmed glasses and a long coat, he looked so docile that no one would believe he was a devil.
“Adele. Take this.”
Just before leaving, he placed something in Adelaide’s hand.
“It is an artifact. It’s made so that I know right away when Adele is in danger. Please always carry it with you.”
Caladium glanced at the artifact. A white stone studded with blue gems. It was the artifact he had hidden in Adelaide’s cloak the other day.
“Yes, I got it… Thank you, Lisian.”
Lisianthus fluttered his eyes and smiled. The thought of not seeing this beautiful smile for a while made her nose tingle.
“If, by any chance, you really encounter the Legend, you must run away. Lisian, you must never get hurt.”
Adelaide said while sniffling. The way she struggled to hold back her tears was so cute that Lisianthus laughed. He reached out to her face. His hard fingers gently rubbed the corners of her reddened eyes, then slid through her hair.
Huh? Her pink pupils widened. Something touched her lips which she didn’t even have time to figure out what had happened. It was soft and moist. It was Lisianthus’ lips.
“Fuck, aren’t you leaving?!”
Caladium violently pushed Lisianthus’ body away.
‘How dare you kiss Adelaide in front of me.’
He knew it had already happened between the two, but seeing it in person was different. He literally felt like his eyes were going to burst.
Lisianthus was hit in the shoulder by Caladium’s fist, but instead of counterattacking, he smiled softly. In fact, he didn’t pay any attention to Caladium in the first place.
When Adelaide asked with her cheeks blushing, Lisianthus answered in a sultry voice.
“I’m afraid you’ll be hungry while I’m away.”
“I-If you do it so suddenly, I can’t absorb it well.”
“Oh no. I will tell you next time. Or should we do it again now?”
His face was so brazen and beautiful that Adelaide almost nodded her head. It would have happened if Caladium hadn’t spit out abusive language right next to him.
“Yes, then we’ll do the rest next time.”
Chu. Lisianthus kissed Adelaide lightly on the forehead. Adelaide was startled and raised her voice when the touch, which she thought was over, continued once more.
“You said you’d say something first before you do it!”
“Because this is not for giving you energy.”
‘What for then?’ Adelaide asked with her eyes.
Lisianthus murmured “Well.” while he avoided Caladium’s fists that flew again.
She tilted her head at the ambiguous answer.
Unlike Caladium who enjoyed everyone seeing him off, Lisianthus quickly left for the portal after a brief goodbye.
A corner alley in West Belial.
A woman walked towards the entrance of a shabby building, her red hair fluttering like rose petals. She covered her body with thick clothes and a scarf, but her beauty was so outstanding that it could not be covered up. Her smooth tanned skin was spotless, and her small face and features were distinct and attractive. Her large eyes shone brightly like emeralds.
She entered the building with her long legs stretched out. She climbed the old stairs round and round and opened the small wooden door. It revealed a gorgeous interior, which was unlike the exterior of the building. It was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 50 people and was well equipped with furniture and daily necessities. It was Morpheus’ Safe House that had large-scale magic that could defend against an unexpected attack.
Some of the succubi, who had been squatting on the floor helplessly, raised their heads. Then got up quickly and ran towards the woman.
“Penelope, you’re back? The letters?”
“Yes. Here, letters and newspapers.”
The woman, Penelope, put the bundle of letters down on the table. She had brought the letters that were delivered to the Morpheus Association.
“What about Maximilian?”
“She is resting in her room. I guess she’s still not feeling well. Shall I inform her that you are here?”
“No, let her rest.”
Penelope untied her old scarf, took off her beret, and leaned back on the sofa. She was tired from dealing with several low level demons who rushed towards her. Her head was pounding because she had so much to worry about these days.
The most worrying thing recently was the health of Maximilian, the leader of the Morpheus’ Association. Her condition had recently deteriorated noticeably since her visit to the Demon King’s Castle. Most of the senior succubi, except Penelope, fled since they didn’t know about it, so Penelope took over on behalf of Maximilian.
They weren’t afraid of the low level demons who attacked them all the time. However, after the attack of the Legend, the mid level demons also joined the hatred aimed at succubi one by one, so it was very difficult for her to deal with them as she was only a mid level demon.
‘But what can I do? I have to hold on until Maximilian recovers.’
She pressed her temples with her fingers, as she struggled to suppress her tiredness that was about to overflow. She needed something to divert her attention.
“Oh right, Adela sent me a reply.” She muttered in a low voice. Penelope rummaged through her pocket and pulled out the letter. As she read the letters with languid eyes, there was an expression of embarrassment on her face.
“… What are you talking about?”
“Did my eyes get worse since I’m older now?” Penelope closed her eyes and read the letter again. However, the content that shocked her was still there.
I understand your opinion. Actually, I thought you’d say no too. Because Pippa is cool.
As I said, I’m living happily among the good demons, so don’t worry. In particular, one of them is very strong and also incredibly beautiful. Besides, he is so gentle and kind that if I say I want to eat an eclair, he would go to the capital and buy it for me. I’ll let you have a vacation for a while since I’m grateful.
Anyway, always stay healthy. See you again someday
If someone who didn’t know Adelaide would see it, they would think that she was simply boasting about her demons in the letter. But the clever Penelope quickly understood what Adelaide meant.
‘You sent one of your demons to us.’
Eclairs were one of Adelaide’s favorite chocolate shop’s top products. Giving her a vacation meant that this guy would help her for a while. It was as if Adelaide wrote her letter worried that she was working too hard. She felt sorry for making this child who was faraway worry for nothing. Still, she was grateful that she was worried about her. But the problem was…
‘How do I know who it is just by saying that he’s pretty and strong?’
As always, she was clumsy in one place or another.
