While Liarte was drawing, there was a knock on the door.
Liarte thought it was another staff member, so she replied.
“Come on in.”
Looking at the time, it was less than an hour since Merlin left.
‘I’m sure she got the paint easily by now.’
It was an unusually short time, but it was not that difficult to buy it if you really wanted to.
In the future, when it was revealed that the paint containing the blood of a saint could restore the torch, it could not be bought at all costs.
“It’s me Liarte.”
Unexpectedly, it was Aaron who knocked on the door.
Aaron waited for Liarte at the door rather than entering on his own volition.
“Wait a minute.”
A thin stream of water supported the brush that Liarte was holding.
“Come on in, Aaron.”
Liarte found a shining box in Aaron’s hand.
Andre, who was behind Aaron, bowed his head when his eyes met with Liarte.
Merlin led Aaron inside while she was standing next to him.
“Did you bring Aaron, Merlin?”
“I did, Young Lady.”
Merlin nodded her head.
“I asked for his cooperation because the Temple of Light has a lot more paint than the commercially available paints in the market.”
It was a polite attitude for someone dealing with her previous master.
“I bought this because I was looking for the paint containing the blood of a saint. I thought you might need it.”
When she looked closely, there was a subtle glow in the box Aaron was holding.
“Let’s first sit down, have some tea, and talk.”
“Can we? I heard you were painting, but I don’t want to disturb you.”
“I was just about to rest.”
Aaron carefully followed Liarte in.
The terrace outside the room was too hot for them to sit on.
“Let’s sit down here.”
Following Liarte’s instructions, Aaron sat down at the table with a frown.
The scene of a large old man barely sitting down on a lacy chair looked awkward.
“Would you like some cocoa? It’s not a good drink that goes well with summer though.”
Aaron immediately perked up, as he likes sweets.
“Having cocoa is great too.”
“If you drink it cold, it’s a delicacy.”
Since leaving Elheim, Liarte has never used the ability to freeze water.
She didn’t have a chance to do it, and she didn’t remember much about how she created the ice that day.
Lately, she’s been practicing by placing the ice on the cocoa or making drinks cold.
‘Because I might need it later.’
Merlin soon brought two cups of cocoa. It was steaming hot because she had to melt the chocolate.
“Please wait a minute.”
She concentrated on her senses, imagining that she was using the Power of Water in a twisted way.
The cocoa started to cool down gradually.
Just as it got cold, Liarte placed some ice onto the cocoa.
“It’s delicious if you drink it like this.”
Aaron lifted the glass with great care and drank the cocoa while savoring it.
Although Liarte couldn’t read all of Aaron’s facial expressions, she thought it was a good reaction.
Aaron regrettably set his glass down after finishing the entire cup of cocoa.
Then he showed her the box he was carrying earlier.
“This is really good, but what’s good about it is that…”
Unfortunately, Aaron was not a good explainer.
Merlin intervened as she was watching.
“Do you mind if I explain it to you, Young Lady?”
Aaron’s personality made it clear that he would be unable to discuss even half of the events of the day.
“Birce is donating to several temples outside the empire.”
“Oh, I learned it from Walter.”
Unlike Elheim’s Power of Water, Birce’s Power of Death was a threat to all countries.
Because of this, Birce said that they have a somewhat friendly relationship with countries outside the empire.
The place where they made the most donations is the Temple of Light.
In return, the Temple of Light guaranteed the safety of Birce from many countries.
“The current Virgin in the Temple of Light has a particularly close relationship with Birce. She was also the first person to think of the Paint with the blood of a Saint.”
Looking back, it was when the current Virgin was six years old when the paint came out.
“Are they an adult?”
“They claim to have great wealth.”
Certainly, no one would use this paint with the blood of a six-year-old saint.
It would be the same even if they made it because they wanted to.
However, the majority of the paints are fakes.
It was a new story that Liarte had not heard before her regression.
“It wasn’t blood, it’s silver glass with a little holy water in it. So I heard that there are side effects in the quality.”
Liarte was also aware of the side effects of the paint containing the saint’s blood.
She heard that the torch can be restored with it because it contains holy power, but there are many cases where the particles are rough and the colors don’t come out properly.
‘I didn’t know it was fake.’
Merlin noticed the box that Aaron had.
“Whenever they receive a donation from Birce, the Virgin of Light often sends me useless things. The thing in that box is paint.”
Aaron lifted the lid of the box.
The subtle white color leaked out because of the paint inside.
“This is the only thing with real blood in it that’s able to be used in your painting.”
Merlin added expressionlessly.
“There are countless things like that in Birce.”
“You don’t look very happy.”
“It’s useless. Thinking about how much Birce donates to the Temple of Light, it doesn’t make sense. They know it and they keep sending it.”
The saint of light seemed far from the benevolent image that Liarte vaguely thought of.
“If the paint runs out, I’ll let her airlift it at any time. Come on and take it.”
Liarte thanked Aaron as she received the paint.
“I’ll be glad to use it.”
She was glad she had the real paint because it was better than the original paint she was about to get.
“Anything like this…”
As Aaron was about to say something, he looked blankly elsewhere.
A canvas full of red.
It was Liarte’s painting.
“You don’t have great talent.” (t/n: okay old man, ouch)
Liarte should have been given the opportunity to paint earlier.
“Did you say your goal was to advance to the finals?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Aaron saw some possibilities in the unfinished painting.
“I think you’ll be at least in third place.”
At least Liarte didn’t seem to think so.
However, Aaron was convinced that if the painting was released to the world, there would be a large number of collectors lined up.upset
“There will be more letters coming into Birce than there have ever been.”
“I don’t think so.”
Liarte replied. Aaron looked upset after hearing Liarte’s answer.
“Because you’re not confident in the drawing?”
“It’s not about that, but I’m going to make it anonymously without any outside activities.”
“I’m sure it won’t make you tired.”
“I like the painting, but it’s not enough to make it a real job.”
Aaron nodded his head.
Even though she has a talent for it, she had no intention of making this her only option.
“Yeah, because you don’t know how many things you’ll like in the world yet.”
Then Aaron looked at the clock and stood up.
“Do you have an appointment?”
“I forgot I left my work. I’ll call you again next time, Liarte.”
After bidding farewell, Aaron went out right away and walked somewhere.
As he left, Merlin said.
“You don’t have any appointments.”
Liarte went back to her room to finish painting.
She took out the paint that she had received from Aaron.
The subtle glow seemed to be the influence of the holy power.
‘I don’t even know how to draw this differently.’
To restore the painting with fake paints that were said to have holy water within them, a broken brush and a chisel were needed to scratch the paint.
‘I’ll draw something on another sheet of paper first.’
She drew a blue rose that she saw a while ago.
She skipped the sketch because she didn’t make up anything in her mind.
A delicate line of blue petals. The shade inside the petals and leaves looks like they’re alive.
She added a soft hue as though she were using regular paint.
At that moment, Liarte’s hands stopped completely.
Originally, she intended to paint the world reflected in Michael’s eyes with the fake paint.
And then she was going to scratch the paint and leave it as it is to restore some of its success.
However, as long as there was real paint, such a process was not necessary.
‘It’s a torch.’
Even Liarte, who was ignorant of God, would recognize the divine power of the painting.
Only the Holy Father and the Holy Mother, who have the divine power to paint, can paint the torch.
Occasionally, a painter chosen by the gods would appear, but it would not be possible to forcefully bring them in while avoiding the eyes of the Temple.
A painter with the art of restoring the torch.
A painter who can paint the torch.
‘An artist who can paint the torch is more dominant than just a painter who restores it.’
The Duke of Haron will surely come to Liarte first.
That night, Liarte completed the painting and submitted it to the contest through Merlin.
All that remains to be done is to wait.
