“Rest a bit. I need to go outside again.”
Roger stood up. Then, he led Vivian outside, promising to find a warmer place for her as he still felt the coldness in Vivian’s body.
Vivian was led along by him, biting her lip in surprise. Even after coming this far, she still had one problem she couldn’t figure out: whether she should attempt to regain her elemental magic or not.
Seeing his less-than-pleased expression right after their reunion, Vivian had almost given up. However, her determination to find her elemental magic reignited unintentionally after her conversation with Camilla. Moreover, Roger seemed to be in a better mood after learning about the situation. Maybe it was okay to bring up the topic now…
In this urgent situation, it would be much better for Vivian to use her elemental magic than not to use it. She would be nothing but a burden to others if she couldn’t use her magic.
“You’ll rest here.”
Roger said as he lifted a blanket, serving as a makeshift door, covering an arched doorway and ushered Vivian inside. It was like a hideout for emergencies, with a thin cloth laid on the ground and a couple of torches. The dim light illuminated the space, creating an ambient atmosphere.
“I plan to go to the mansion as soon as the situation in the village calms down. So…”
“R-Roger!”
Vivian urgently grabbed him as if to convey her purpose. With a puzzled expression, Roger turned his head toward her.
Although she had mustered the courage to call out to him, she hesitated and stumbled over her words for a while. Roger quietly looked at her as she hesitated.
If he had pushed her away, her courage would have dissipated like faint mist. But by staying quiet, her courage slowly grew.
Vivian lowered her head and mumbled.
“I… know how to regain my strength.”
Her words caused Roger’s eyes to widen. His face was completely surprised, hearing something unexpected.
“You know how?”
He immediately asked to make sure he had heard correctly. Vivian nodded with her head still lowered.
“Well, how?”
No matter how desperate she was to regain her strength, she couldn’t casually say, ‘We have to have s3x.’ Her face turned red at the thought even before discussing the topic. However, she realized that she couldn’t delay any longer and firmly squeezed his arm.
“You… have to help me.”
“I have to help you?”
He furrowed his brow in disbelief. After taking a long breath, Vivian briefly recounted the conversation she had with Gray two days ago, omitting any small talk or childhood memories due to time constraints.
As the story progressed, Roger’s expression became more complex.
“…So, the point is…”
With a puzzled expression, Roger rubbed his forehead.
“Is it that I have to… have s3x with you?”
His blunt confirmation made her ears burn with embarrassment. Suppressing the rising awkwardness, Vivian nodded, her head lowered.
This time, he was truly speechless. His silence fueled Vivian’s anxiety, and she hurriedly added.
“Earlier, you said you would finish sealing the rift and go to the mansion, but rifts keep opening. If this keeps up, my master won’t be able to handle it alone. Knights will also be stationed here to protect Master from the demons.”
Vivian passionately argued the necessity of regaining her strength. Roger, who had been listening with his arms crossed, sighed heavily.
“…But this just doesn’t seem right.”
“Roger.”
“You should rest as the magician suggested.”
He tried to act as if he hadn’t heard the way to regain her power, but Vivian wasn’t about to let him off that easily. Her eyes, filled with earnestness, trembled with determination.
“I must regain my strength.”
“It’s not the right time, and you know it.”
On this particular day, Roger was unusually stern with the stubborn Vivian. Her heart felt as if it were freezing in response to his cold reaction, and the once-warm atmosphere quickly turned frigid, much like the rain outside.
She had expected his refusal, but facing it head-on sent shivers down her spine. Helpless and disempowered, she didn’t want to be in this situation.
“If you won’t help…”
She anticipated that he wouldn’t agree. That’s why she had prepared a backup plan. Maybe she would provoke his anger, but she was desperate enough to face that possibility.
“I’ll find another man.”
Without hesitation, Roger, who had been heading towards the door, abruptly stopped in his tracks. Even though he had his back to her, his demeanor felt as cold as ice.
Although she had expected the confrontation, Vivian swallowed hard as her heart raced.
“Where are you going?”
His low, menacing voice filled the narrow space, pricking Vivian’s ears like needles. As he slowly turned towards her, his expression was even more severe than she had anticipated.
Vivian clenched her fists and focused her gaze, trying not to show her nervousness. She knew she wouldn’t gain anything by yielding here; it was her chance to regain her magical powers.
“If the condition is to be with a man, it doesn’t have to be you. I can be with another man if-“
As she spoke, he approached with long strides, reaching out and pulling Vivian closer by the back of her neck. His dry lips quickly descended upon hers. Startled by his forceful advance, Vivian pushed back, but he responded with even more anger, pressing his body against hers.
“Wait…”
His tongue forcefully invaded her lips, and as their movements grew rougher, breathing became difficult. His relentless aggression made it hard for her to catch her breath.
Vivian wanted to close her mouth, but his grip on her chin made it impossible. Instead, she attempted to assert control by gently placing her hand on his chest.
Contrary to his furious movements, her hand calmly encircled Rosier’s neck.
In that moment, his demeanor changed abruptly, as if he had lost control. Vivian, who had been desperately avoiding him until now, slowly synchronized her breath with the rhythm of their kiss. Carefully biting his teasing tongue, the movement of his muscular flesh became gentler. The intense kiss soon returned to its former soft and sweet state.
Gradually, his tongue, which had been exploring her mouth, withdrew, and their lips parted. Vivian’s chest heaved as she struggled to catch her breath. Roger, resting his forehead against hers, mumbled with a face filled with torment.
“I can’t bear the thought of you with another man.”
It wasn’t her intention from the beginning. She had merely wanted to provoke him with her words. The idea of being with another man was enough to send shivers down her spine; how could she possibly go to another man?
His usually straightforward voice was moist with tears today, and his sincerity was unmistakable.
Unable to push him any further, Vivian embraced his broad shoulders. They felt as wide as ever, but strangely, they seemed to have shrunk.
“I won’t go. I… because you refused…”
In response to her reluctant explanation, Roger let go of her, looking into her eyes.
“I don’t want to sleep with you out of necessity anymore.”
“Necessity?”
She didn’t quite understand. Vivian relaxed her grip on his arm, and Roger turned his gaze away.
“We had s3x to wake up from the dream, and now… to regain your powers.”
“…”
“I don’t want it anymore.”
He muttered with irritation, clearly displeased with the current situation.
She vaguely understood. As he said, their relationship, whether in the past or now, always progressed because there was a ‘need’ to resolve something.
“Now that the dreams are over, I want us to do it when we truly desire each other.”
It seemed that the current situation did not sit well with him, as he muttered in an annoyed tone and splashed his face with water. Vivian, who had been staring at Roger, grabbed his hand.
“Why? Why…”
“Because I don’t want to remain in a purely physical relationship.”
He answered Vivian’s question before she could finish. It was as if he wanted her to understand this uncontrollable feeling. While Vivian was the one who first held his hand, in the blink of an eye, Roger had her hand enveloped in his own.
He gently whispered as he kissed the delicate tips of her fingers.
“Seeing you with another man… it would drive me crazy… I think of you as someone special.”
This time, his sincere confession reached beyond her ears and touched her heart. Vivian’s eyes widened at the confession that made her heart flutter, and then her nose started to tingle.
Perhaps she had secretly hoped to hear his confession all along. She needed assurance about how Roger felt about her. Jealousy wasn’t enough; she wanted a deeper and clearer certainty. That’s why, perhaps, overwhelming emotions she couldn’t express in words flooded Vivian’s heart at this moment.
“So, I didn’t want it to be like this.”
Roger had a lot to say, but he let out a deep sigh, unable to express it all with a heavy expression on his face.
As Vivian looked at him inquisitively, she withdrew her hand from his grip. Then, she began to undo the buttons of the dress that had become a mess while she was rolling around. She knew she must look anything but elegant except for her roughly cleaned face, but she couldn’t help herself.
In confusion due to her unexpected actions, Roger couldn’t take his eyes off her emerging flawless skin.
“I want it, now.”
With her heart overflowing from his confession, an unknown passion wrapped around her entire body. Now, free from the constraints of recovering her elemental magic, she simply wanted to surrender herself to him.
Caught off guard by her unexpected seduction, Roger wore an agonized expression as if facing the greatest challenge of his life. Even in the midst of this internal struggle, all he could do was resent his lower body, which stubbornly betrayed him.
“Hmm? Roger…”
Finally, what broke Roger’s ironclad patience was when Vivian wrapped her arms around his neck with a seductive voice, pulling him closer.
